The first entry in each column is the index page for that section of photos.
As a former Yearbook Staff Photographer, photo quality has always been an important issue to me. I have kept our thumbnail images larger in size and resolution than typical thumbnails
used on most other web sites. This results in larger file sizes and longer load times for persons still using dial-up connections. Even though the older images have been slightly
compressed, the latest additions to the Cadet Life section and all of the Reunion 2004 photos utilize a new compression technique and fewer photos per page which should allow for faster
page loads and larger images while still retaining a very good resolution. The following pages will take longer to fully load than pages that contain mostly text. All photos are scheduled to be
reprocessed with smaller thumbnails and a slide show viewing capability. Most of the older "thumbnails" are hyper linked to their full size photo. Some thumbnail links
will open a second browser window. The individual links will eventually open a pop-up browser window. For that reason, you may need to temporarily disable your PopUp Blocking
Software
. Eventually, all photo links to larger images will behave the same but for now, you will need to use your browser's BACK button to return to the thumbnail page for those links that
have not been updated. Notes: While viewing photos that spanned the entire legacy of FMA, I have come to the conclusion that
FMA was more of a time than a physical place. It was a living entity. For each decade, FMA holds a
special meaning that is unique to those that were on the campus and alien to those before or after that
time. The cadets of the '80s probably couldn't imagine life in the old barracks of the 60's and early 70's.
Likewise, neither could the earlier cadets fathom FMA as a college campus setting with a modern coed dormitory and classrooms. One cadet remarked, how we counted the days until we could get out of
Frederick, only to find ourselves, years later, trying to get back in. I will attempt to capture and preserve
the uniqueness of each generation that passed through the gates of FMA through the images that I have been entrusted with. If you can
positively identify the people in any of the photos of cadets that have not been captioned please inform the webmaster so that their names can be added to the photo. Please include the name of
the page and location of the photo on that page. (Cadet Life 4 - 3rd photo from the top - right side - 2nd person from left - front row) for example. Or you could include a link to the photo in question...
