Webmaster Torch Passing
For the past ten plus years the FMA Alumni Website was maintained and updated by Cadet Cecil Harris. It is with regret that the torch is handed to a new webmaster to fill the void left with Cecil’s passing. Our new webmaster is none other than the author himself, Cadet Laakkonen.
Cecil was a core part of the Alumni Association, and his efforts are sorely missed. The torch was passed to Cadet Harris in 2008 after ten years of stewardship and hard work by Cadet Rich Abrams who took it upon himself to create the initial FMA-Alumni.org site in 1998, with the name changing to FMAAlumni.org in 2003 when Rich happened to chose my domain registration and hosting company to host the site- which was done at no cost for many years.
Cadet Harris spent many hundreds if not thousands of hours collecting and archiving information about Frederick College and Frederick Military Academy – without his organizational efforts much of this information might be lost forever. We are very grateful for his efforts, and also the efforts of Debbie Bell- who was a constant companion to Cecil in everything related to the FMA Alumni Association.
Though I never met Cecil in person, I can say through our hours of speaking on the phone that he was not afraid to learn something new every day of his life- and this website is the fruit of his efforts.
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other” -John F. Kennedy
We hope you will join us in the path that lies ahead for the FMA Alumni Association – great minds such as yours may help the the spirit of Cadet Harris- and those many folks of FMA who left before him- revive the idea that Frederick Military Academy’s ideals – Knowledge, Truth, and Valor – are immortal.
